About the position

The Public Safety Officer at UMass Memorial Health is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the hospital environment. This part-time role involves responding to various public safety issues, participating in emergency response programs, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. The officer will work primarily on weekends, contributing to a team dedicated to exceptional patient care and community service.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the initial 8-hour Hospital Orientation Program and Annual Competency Reviews.
  • Obtain annual re-certifications in CPR, restraint techniques, and other mandated training.
  • Participate in hospital emergency room programs and respond to various codes.
  • Effectively handle a wide range of public safety issues in changing situations.
  • Interpret and understand written and oral instructions.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement agencies while protecting patient rights.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three years of related experience and/or training in public safety.
