About the position

The Public Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, employees, visitors, patients, and property within the assigned facility. This role involves responding to emergency incidents, de-escalating critical events, and exercising sound judgment in interactions with potentially combative individuals.

Responsibilities

• Respond to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility.
• Safeguard students, employees, visitors, patients, and property.
• De-escalate critical events using sound judgment.
• Engage with combative or escalating subjects in a safe manner.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years of experience in general security, military, or other public safety experience preferred.
• Valid Drivers license and adherence to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500.
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer (IAHSS) required within one year of hire.
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification preferred.
• Ability to carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or a baton required.
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening.
• Must pass and maintain all training requirements to maintain employment.
