About the position

The Supervisor Public Safety/Security position at Houston Methodist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Public Safety/Security department, ensuring the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors. This role involves supervising staff, managing shift activities, investigating incidents, and maintaining compliance with safety protocols. The supervisor acts as a subject matter expert and supports management in achieving operational goals while fostering a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Public Safety/Security department.
• Supervise daily shift activities and ensure compliance with staffing levels.
• Inspect on-site and off-site posts and facilities regularly.
• Investigate incidents and customer complaints, compiling data for reporting.
• Train and supervise staff, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and support department management.
• Manage staffing needs including scheduling and timekeeping.
• Monitor staff security responses to expected and emergent situations.
• Provide reports to management regarding department needs and issues.
• Lead and maintain high customer satisfaction while ensuring safety and security.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent education (GED, accredited homeschool equivalency).
• Five years of experience in a security, military, or law enforcement related field, with three years demonstrating progressive leadership responsibility.
• Required certifications: SECUR-N, IAHSS-B, IAHSS-A or IAHSS-S, Driver License, NVCRISIS within specified time frames.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate's degree preferred.
• BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) certification preferred.
