About the position

The Public Service Coordinator I position at the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF) is a full-time, limited period role focused on developing and implementing the Maine Agriculture, Food and Forest Products Investment Fund (MAFFPIF). This position aims to enhance Maine's food systems by providing support to food, farm, and forest product producers. The coordinator will work closely with stakeholders, conduct rulemaking, and ensure the Fund aligns with other state financial assistance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Maine Agriculture, Food and Forest Products Investment Fund (MAFFPIF).
  • Conduct rulemaking and coordinate with key stakeholders to advance policy and legislative priorities.
  • Ensure the Fund works in harmony with other State of Maine financial and technical assistance tools.
  • Facilitate the Maine Agriculture, Food Systems, and Forest Products Infrastructure Investment Advisory Board.
  • Research and identify investment opportunities in agriculture, food, and forest product industries.
  • Secure program funding and develop workplans.
  • Collect and analyze program data and draft program reports.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on training, education, and outreach.

Requirements

  • A combination of eight years of education, training, and/or experience in planning and research principles.
  • Familiarity with rulemaking and governmental processes.
  • Experience applying equity considerations in policy making and financial assistance.
  • Knowledge of grant administration processes and inter-organizational coordination.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and steward program outcome data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in stakeholder outreach and communications.
