About the position

The Public Service Executive - Division Administrator position at the Iowa Department of Education is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the Division of Special Education. This position involves providing guidance and coordination for special education programs, managing staff, and participating in high-level policy decisions. The administrator will work closely with the Director and Deputy Director to ensure effective service delivery and compliance with state and federal regulations, ultimately aiming to enhance educational outcomes for students with Individualized Education Plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Division of Special Education.
  • Administer, supervise, and provide leadership within the division.
  • Direct and evaluate special education service delivery programs.
  • Oversee the hiring and evaluation of division staff.
  • Manage the annual budget and expenditures for the division.
  • Represent the Department of Education with various constituencies.
  • Collaborate with other state agencies and organizations to improve PK-12 education.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the agency's strategic plan.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and seven years of management-level work experience in relevant fields.
  • Eleven years of full-time management-level work experience in relevant fields.
  • Seven years of management-level work experience combined with a total of four years of education and experience.
  • Five years of management-level work experience combined with a total of four years of education and two years of graduate-level education.
  • Current experience in the state executive branch including one year of full-time work as a Public Service Manager.
