The position involves performing clerical, administrative, and financial duties to ensure the efficient operation of the Public Works Department. The incumbent must be able to work in a variety of office settings within the Department of Public Works and follow the policies and procedures established by the Director of Public Works. Responsibilities include preparing, copying, and distributing routine correspondence as assigned by the Assistant to the Director of Public Works, Division Heads, Section Leaders, and other Department personnel. The incumbent will also answer phones, transfer inquiries, and take messages properly, as well as open and distribute incoming correspondence. The ability to prioritize work and multi-task is essential, and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Works and/or the Assistant to the Director of Public Works.
