About the position

The Public Works Project Analyst position at the City of Buckeye involves supporting the planning, design, contracting, implementation, and inspection of public works projects. The role requires coordination of work priorities, preparation of project schedules, and management of asset systems to maintain city streets. The analyst will also oversee contractor work, respond to public inquiries, and develop maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans and specifications for contract work; inspect and oversee the work of contractors, ensuring compliance to standards.
  • Evaluate proposed projects to determine feasibility, establish work priorities, and prepare project recommendations.
  • Lead projects, manage contracted work, and ensure projects are on track through inspections.
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints from the public or City staff, coordinating with other departments to resolve issues.
  • Prepare and present reports, records, and documentation on assigned operations.
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for assigned activities, monitoring its effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support in GIS, modeling, and statistical analysis for city-wide projects.
  • Oversee database programs, analyze data, and assist with asset management systems.
  • Conduct field investigations and data collection for various programs and projects, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Manage yearly pavement restoration budget, including budgeting, bidding, and contractor management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and six years of progressively responsible experience in Public Works procedures and practices.
  • Two years of lead or supervisory experience in a municipal environment or related field.
  • Knowledge of city organization, policies, and procedures related to public works.
  • Experience with GIS mapping systems and their applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and construction plans.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with budget creation and administration.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction principles.
  • Familiarity with municipal permitting and operations.
