About the position

The Public Works Public Relations Manager is responsible for managing public relations, marketing, and educational initiatives for the assigned department. This role involves serving as the spokesperson, developing marketing plans, and coordinating outreach programs to enhance community engagement and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as spokesperson for assigned department; responds to routine media inquiries and questions.
  • Manages relationships with media contacts and develops public relations opportunities.
  • Prepares and distributes press releases and maintains web page and social media accounts.
  • Coordinates public outreach programs and makes presentations to community groups and organizations.
  • Assists with department activities, prepares annual budget documents, and compiles economic impact data.
  • Designs and evaluates marketing and community relations plans in collaboration with division managers.
  • Conducts market research to assess audiences and discover new marketing opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in public relations, marketing, or communications.
  • Valid driver's license.
