The Publications Specialist at the American College of Radiology (ACR) will play a crucial role in the production of a monthly non-clinical journal, transitioning to a digital-only format in January 2025. This position involves managing the submission and peer review processes through the Editorial Manager system, ensuring that the flow of manuscripts is smooth and that production schedules are adhered to. The Publications Specialist will set and monitor journal standards, resolve any production issues, and maintain effective communication with the journal publisher, Elsevier, as well as with editors and the editorial board. In addition to managing the editorial process, the Publications Specialist will contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans aimed at expanding the journal's reach and increasing submissions and reviews. This includes coordinating the creation of visual abstracts, collaborating with editors, authors, and designers to produce engaging infographics that complement article content. The role also involves generating and synthesizing journal metrics into actionable reports, which will inform future editorial decisions and strategies. The Publications Specialist will be responsible for planning and coordinating both live and virtual events, such as Editorial Board meetings, editorial retreats, and fellowship visits, ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged and informed. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a willingness to explore innovative methods of engaging with readers and enhancing the overall quality of patient care through scholarly publishing.
