About the position

The Pug Mill Operator is responsible for operating pug mill equipment efficiently to maximize production while ensuring a safe work environment. This role involves teamwork and communication with management to coordinate daily operations, maintain quality standards, and assist in training less-experienced employees.

Responsibilities

• Operate computer blending and load out controls in the pug mill.
• Communicate with the Plant Manager regarding daily work scope, types of mixes, and materials to be shipped or received.
• Load trucks with assigned materials.
• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure no trucks leave the plant overloaded.
• Work with the QC Department to maintain quality standards on materials.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations.
• Complete daily maintenance of the plant and keep it clean.
• Assist in training less-experienced employees on proper operations and servicing of the plant.
• Perform general laboring duties as necessary and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under various working conditions.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
• Must possess a valid DOT medical card.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with front end loader and skid loader operation.
• Knowledge of basic mathematical calculations for time and material records.
