About the position

The Pump Station Skilled Laborer will perform tasks involving physical labor at heavy construction projects. This includes constructing, fabricating, assembling, and disassembling concrete form work and fixtures made of metal, wood, and other accessories. The role requires adherence to safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA standards, and involves working closely with the Project Superintendent to ensure project needs are met.

Responsibilities

• Follow Daily Procedures and regulations as set forth in job orientations and trainings and Safety Handbooks.
• Follow all OSHA guidelines and bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent or Safety Facilitator.
• Build structures required to the specifications of the job, including platforms, stairs, concrete forms, framework, and temporary frame shelters.
• Examine drawings, sketches, building plans, and form drawings to determine material requirements and dimensions.
• Use form carpentry hand tools such as levels, squares, plumb bobs, hammers, hand and power saws, adjustable wrenches, drill motors, reciprocating saws, and pry bars.
• Prepare layout of form or fixture to be fabricated using grades and layout lines.
• Construct forms, chutes, and align form panels for pouring concrete and grout.
• Install temporary handrails, stairs, and ladders, and erect and dismantle scaffolding.
• Tie rebar as required.
• Coordinate with the Project Superintendent regarding project needs, including equipment and personnel.
• Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety plans.

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience preferred.
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy construction work.
• Knowledge in mathematics is required.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral directions.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
