This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As the Lunar Pumps Vertical Integration Technical Project Manager, you will report directly to the Fluids Prop Integrated Product Team Manager to improve the overall execution of the team. You will spearhead developing new cryogenic pump manufacturing capabilities. In this role, you will be given a manufacturing capability that is desired. From there, you will research options, size the development and production capability based on demand and bandwidth. You will evaluate facility options, generate tooling lists, aggregate build and test requirements, and formulate a proposal. You will then coordinate review and responses to actions with stakeholders and reach approval. Then the responsibility will shift to standing up the capability, coordinating facility space/renovation, supporting hiring, specifying equipment, etc. You will act as the project manager, delivering a fully functional internal manufacturing capability. You will be the primary liaison between the Lunar Fluids/Prop team and the supporting organizations within Blue Origin that will complete the tasks needed to deliver these critical internal capabilities. Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the development of new cryogenic pump manufacturing capabilities.
  • Research options and size the development and production capability based on demand and bandwidth.
  • Evaluate facility options and generate tooling lists.
  • Aggregate build and test requirements and formulate a proposal.
  • Coordinate review and responses to actions with stakeholders and reach approval.
  • Stand up the manufacturing capability, coordinating facility space/renovation, supporting hiring, and specifying equipment.
  • Act as the project manager to deliver a fully functional internal manufacturing capability.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Lunar Fluids/Prop team and supporting organizations.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects/programs including managing priorities, scope, schedule, integration, and cost.
  • Turbomachinery manufacturing and test experience.
  • Subcontract experience.
  • Experience with generating cost and schedule estimates from scratch.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while regularly providing imaginative and detailed solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical subject area.
  • Aerospace manufacturing and or design experience.
  • Experience standing up development manufacturing and test capability from scratch.
  • Experience in leading complex highly integrated products.
  • Conversational in fluids and propulsion system technical details.
