About the position

The Punjabi Interpreter position at LanguageLine Solutions involves providing video-phone interpretation services between Punjabi and English speakers. This remote role is essential for breaking communication barriers across various industries, including healthcare, government, and law enforcement. The interpreter will receive industry-leading training and support while working from home, ensuring a professional and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Handle on-demand interpreting calls between Punjabi and English speakers.
• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
• Deliver audio and video interpretation services while typing data on a dedicated device.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocols.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions.
• Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations.
• Follow client instructions to meet expectations with Limited English-speaking Persons (LEP).
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.

Requirements

• Fluency in Punjabi and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to remain neutral and objective during sensitive conversations.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
