About the position

The Purchase Planning Lead at Honda is responsible for overseeing a team of buyers and planners involved in prototype development activities. This role includes managing prototype parts budgets, resource forecasts, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The leader will mentor team members, direct daily operations, and collaborate with development teams to ensure accurate budgeting and cost evaluations for prototype parts and tooling. The position requires strong leadership skills and a focus on continuous improvement to support Honda's innovative goals.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train associates on problem-solving and procedure creation.
• Provide daily operational direction to the group and ensure compliance with training and safety protocols.
• Lead weekly meetings regarding 4MOC parts orders and ensure group preparedness.
• Create and manage current and long-term prototype part budgets for HDMA development models.
• Manage contracts issued by the group to ensure profitability and budget adherence.
• Correlate with development team leadership regarding prototype parts budgets for evaluations.
• Provide written, verbal, and presentation documents to report on performance and key performance indicators.
• Liaison with IS for the creation of digital dashboards for workload evaluation.

Requirements

• An undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8 or more years of related experience in contracts administration and purchasing, preferably in the automotive or commercial aviation sector.
• Prior experience managing teams and tracking KPIs across multiple teams.
• Experience reviewing budgets of US$ 15M or more.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the automotive industry.
• Familiarity with digital dashboard creation and KPI maintenance.
