About the position
The Purchaser Planner II position at Thorlabs is a part-time role focused on assisting with planning, forecasting, and inventory management. The role involves purchasing inventory and non-inventory items, improving processes, and managing vendor relationships. The position requires a proactive approach to cost reduction and process improvement while adhering to company policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, forecasting, and inventory management.
- Purchase inventory and non-inventory items and services.
- Work to reduce costs and improve processes.
- Identify and qualify new vendors and perform ongoing vendor evaluations.
- Support the Production Planner in inventory planning, including safety stock and forecasts.
- Manage vendor relationships, including supplier agreements and quality audits.
- Initiate and participate in purchasing improvement and cost reduction programs.
- Generate special and periodic reports as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficient in ERP Systems (Microsoft Dynamics a plus).
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and procedure manuals.
- Ability to create documents for process improvement.
