About the position

The Purchasing Agent role is a full-time position focused on supporting purchasing and research and development activities within a manufacturing environment. The position requires strong organizational and analytical skills, as well as the ability to maintain supplier relationships and manage inventory effectively. The role is suitable for candidates with experience up to a managerial level, emphasizing the importance of both technical and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Purchasing and R&D with tool tracking, tool trials, tooling inspections, and tool repairs.
  • Provide general purchasing support including researching costs, placing orders, and receiving items.
  • Monitor inventory levels and determine purchase needs.
  • Maintain records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
  • Schedule and verify purchase deliveries.
  • Build and maintain positive, long-term supplier relations.
  • Perform extensive computer work including creating databases and data entry.
  • Support sales and cross-train to assist other departments as needed.
  • Understand and follow company policies and maintain data to prepare reports.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Manufacturing Engineering training or experience required.
  • 2 years of direct manufacturing experience required.
  • PC abilities with Windows and Microsoft Office Software required.
  • Competence with office machines required.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Previous experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar position required.
  • Proficiency in CRM and inventory management software programs required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional coursework in general business or office technology preferred.
  • Manufacturing or Production Engineering / Technician Associates Degree preferred.
