About the position

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing goods and managing vendor relationships to ensure strategic, high-quality, and cost-effective procurement activities. This role involves evaluating market conditions, negotiating effectively, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and managing large projects to meet customer demands. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
• Process stock/non-stock purchase orders.
• Keep manufacturer cost files up to date.
• Maintain pricing matrices.
• Add/delete products in CEDNet.
• Monitor commodity pricing and availability.
• Handle annual/defective vendor returns.
• Manage debit/credit memos.
• Work through freight claims and change order requests with customers and vendors.
• Provide inside sales support.
• Create tickets for customer orders.
• Quote customer bill of material.
• Schedule and communicate the release of material and delivery expectations with customers and warehouse operations.

Requirements

• Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
• Negotiation and networking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical skills.
• Solid judgment with the ability to make decisions in a fluid environment.

Nice-to-haves

• 1 year of experience in Purchasing or Project Management.
• 1 year of experience in Inside Sales.
• College degree.
