About the position

The Purchasing Agent at Lindal Cedar Homes plays a crucial role in the procurement process by reviewing project specifications and coordinating material sales orders based on architectural plans. This position requires a thorough understanding of various materials, including windows, doors, metal siding, trusses, and custom stairs and railings, among other specialty items. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with the Lead Purchaser to ensure that all purchase orders (POs) are accurate and meet the required specifications. A key aspect of this role is the ability to analyze architectural blueprints meticulously to ensure that all construction documents are synchronized and accurate. Attention to detail is paramount in this position, as any discrepancies can lead to significant issues in project execution. In addition to reviewing quotes against architectural plans at various design phases—Schematic, Design Development, and Construction—the Purchasing Agent will manage multiple projects simultaneously, tracking the progress of orders and performing quality control (QC) on purchase orders. The role also involves preparing sales quotes, orders, and energy analysis reports using vendor-specific programs. The Purchasing Agent will assist with processing Customer Management Orders (CMOs) within Lindal's Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system and provide product knowledge support to design teams. Effective communication with project stakeholders and distributors is essential to identify and report any problems or deficiencies that may arise during the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to quickly learn and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules. Proficiency in office applications, including Google and Microsoft, is necessary, along with the flexibility to adapt and re-prioritize tasks as project conditions change.
