About The Position

The Purchasing Agent position at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for acquiring supplies, services, and construction through various purchasing methods. Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required to apply for this job.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5 level in the Federal service.
• Knowledge of VA and Federal Acquisition Regulations and Public Laws.
• Working knowledge of Fiscal Fund Control Points and budget balances.
• Practical knowledge of agency budgetary processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of purchase card regulations and policies.
• Skill in analyzing problem areas and price analysis techniques.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with procurement in a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with federal micro purchase thresholds.
• Ability to use Outlook Mail and Calendar features effectively.

Responsibilities

• Acquire supplies, services, and construction through purchase, rental, or lease.
• Serve as a Purchasing Agent for the Logistics Service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System.
• Prepare, control, and review procurement documents and reports.
• Contact vendors to check order status and expedite delivery.
• Maintain procurement files and resolve discrepancies related to shipments and payments.
• Monitor vendor performance and track expenditures for budget forecasts.
• Provide excellent customer service to medical staff, customers, vendors, and contractors.
• Resolve minor disputes and informal complaints among medical staff and customers.
