About the position

The Purchasing Agent at Taylor Commercial Foodservice LLC is responsible for ensuring a continuous supply of materials for various operations, including final assembly and aftermarket services. This role involves managing supplier relationships, monitoring material planning requirements, and executing strategies to enhance material productivity. The Purchasing Agent will work closely with engineering and production teams to manage changes and launches effectively, while also negotiating contracts with suppliers to maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuity of supply for assigned commodity groups supporting final assembly, sub-assembly, fabrication, warehousing, and aftermarket operations to meet 100% on-time delivery.
  • Manage supplier relationships and oversee schedule, order, release, expedite, and timely receipt of necessary materials.
  • Maintain purchase order due dates and communicate changes to suppliers regularly.
  • Monitor and review material planning requirements, purchasing activities, production, and inventory levels against forecasts, recommending changes as necessary.
  • Utilize lean and continuous improvement tools to manage order parameters in MRP systems to meet WIP inventory goals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supplier quality, and production functions to manage engineering change notices and new product launches.
  • Negotiate price, terms, quantities, and deliveries for contractual agreements with suppliers.
  • Formulate and execute strategies to deliver material productivity commitments, including pricing and cost reductions.
  • Implement best practices for supplier work transition and new production launches.
  • Work with the purchasing manager to improve supplier evaluation and selection techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in purchasing and/or planning in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Five or more years of experience in plastics or casting commodity.
  • Fundamental understanding of supply chain, including manufacturing capacity and logistics.
  • Experience with lean concepts such as 5S, Kanban, Value-Streams, and One-Piece Flow is a plus.
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and influence others in a diverse environment.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
