About the position
The Purchasing Agent will play a crucial role in the restoration contracting team, ensuring smooth project execution by managing material and equipment requirements for various construction projects. This position involves collaboration with the Sales Department to review contracts, analyze project scopes, and order necessary materials and equipment, all while maintaining budgetary constraints and project timelines.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Sales to review contract scopes and determine material and equipment needs.
- Ensure all materials ordered align with the project's scope and stay within the established budget.
- Calculate total material quantities (in linear feet, square footage, cubic measurements, and quantities) and secure the best prices.
- Develop a phased delivery plan for materials and equipment, aligned with project schedules.
- Maintain stock levels to minimize excess inventory while meeting project demands.
Requirements
- Previous construction experience required; familiarity with materials, equipment, and field operations preferred.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word) and familiarity with project management or procurement software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or construction documents is a plus.
