About the position

The Purchasing Analyst/Buyer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of operating system data and coordinating demand requirements through effective planning and procurement of raw materials to support manufacturing operations. This role involves maintaining inventory control, creating purchase orders, and collaborating with various departments to resolve supply issues while adhering to production and inventory control policies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the operating system data is accurate, including Product Master fields.
  • Maintain accurate lot sizes, safety stocks, lead times, item notes, and other operating parameters.
  • Coordinate demand requirements through order entry into manufacturing planning and execution.
  • Plan raw materials accurately and efficiently to support manufacturing requirements.
  • Review BEDIA and create purchase orders for direct materials.
  • Work closely with Planners and Production Supervisors to address supply issues.
  • Execute raw material procurement accurately and timely.
  • Monitor component procurement of raw materials and review MRP for replenishment orders.
  • Monitor raw materials inventories to determine economic ordering consistent with inventory control practices.
  • Advise Purchasing and the Planner of changes affecting material needs for manufacturing.
  • Incorporate PFEP as a tool to minimize inventory using proven methodology.
  • Validate purchase delivery dates, track carrier status, and communicate supplier corrective action requests when necessary.
  • Maintain purchasing information records and forecasting databases.
  • Adhere to production/inventory control policies and procedures.
  • Manage the SCMS database and scheduling of RTVs in collaboration with Quality Management and Shipping/Receiving personnel.
  • Analyze raw material inventory aging and take action to minimize overage or scrap.
  • Follow the Scheduling process map to ensure accuracy.
  • Generate process order requirements, purchase orders, debit memos, requisitions, and general correspondence as required.
  • Maintain documentation of manufacturing practices, work procedures, and work instructions.
  • Create ZAMU Sample Shipping orders.
  • Serve as back-up to the Sr. Buyer/Planner for MRO purchasing.
  • Ensure conformance with facility quality management system and strategic goals.
  • Maintain 5S and lean manufacturing techniques, value stream mapping, and participate in team meetings to reduce cycle time and costs.
  • Attend problem-solving sessions as required.
  • Utilize business software for inventory transfers, inquiries, and requisitions.
  • Generate reports, analyses, and graphs of manufacturing activities.

Requirements

  • Strong PC skills including Notes, Spreadsheets, Downloads, PowerPoint, and graphics.
  • Associates Degree in Operations Management or similar, or equivalent years of related work experience.
  • Two to three years of MRP/DRP Planning experience in manufacturing/distribution.
  • Computer database system literate and operating experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • APICS certification (CPIM) desirable.
