About the position

The Purchasing Specialist at Symbria Rx Services is responsible for managing purchasing and inventory control activities across all pharmacies in a cost-effective manner. This role involves maintaining accurate records related to ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing pharmacy products and supplies, while also engaging in various project-based tasks. The position requires collaboration with the Purchasing and Inventory Supervisor to ensure efficient inventory management and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts or manages audits to maintain inventory data integrity.
  • Maintain pharmacy formulary in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping, or other records accuracy.
  • Conduct accurate cycle counts as per the schedule and compare results to accounting data; adjust based on established policies and management approval.
  • Monitor and process returns of outdated, slow-moving, and/or unused medications with wholesaler for credit.
  • Utilize stock control records and information to determine inventory levels and the need for replenishment.
  • Anticipate changes in purchases and adjust buying patterns accordingly.
  • Analyze and make recommendations regarding stock levels, item status, and product disposition.
  • Review product tagging on the shelf for accuracy and completeness and initiates corrective action.
  • Assure all ordered product is organized, inventoried, and stocked appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Supervise the daily wholesale order process by the purchasing team to ensure sufficient stock on hand.
  • Investigate special order requests from pharmacy departments.
  • Manage the returns and credit process including receiving, reviewing, processing, and timely restocking of items returned from client communities.
  • Review future brand to generic switches and coordinate the transition from brand to generic within all pharmacy departments.
  • Manage the inventory, onboarding, maintenance, and replenishments of Automated Dispensing Systems (ADS) units.
  • Manage customer service support of the ADSs.
  • Coordinate the exchange of C-Boxes to communities ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and participate in quarterly physical inventory.
  • Perform any and all duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Pharmacy Technician license and/or Certification (CPhT) as per State requirement.
  • Minimum 18 years of age and valid driver's license with violation free driving record.
  • Willingness to drive a company vehicle to client locations for C-Box replenishments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Extensive teamwork with associates across multiple departments/locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to alternate pharmacy locations quarterly and as required.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision while completing assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts as operational needs dictate.

Nice-to-haves

  • Pharmacy inventory experience; minimum five years.
  • Proficient with FrameWork dispensing software.
