About the position

Our client is a growing HVAC distribution and service company located in Spring, Texas, focusing on providing exceptional services to residential customers in the Greater Houston area at affordable prices. They are currently seeking a Purchasing and Inventory Control Supervisor to join their team. This role is crucial as the company expands, and the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the department's activities and managing the company's materials inventory effectively. The Purchasing and Inventory Control Supervisor will play a key role in tracking inventory levels, ensuring accurate records, and establishing and implementing cycle count plans in accordance with the company's guidelines. This position involves reporting and analyzing inventory inaccuracies and trends, reconciling discrepancies, and researching the root causes of inventory issues. The supervisor will also assist in developing and implementing procedures for managing HVAC inventory, ensuring that the company maintains optimal stock levels and efficient operations. In this role, the supervisor will oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department, coordinating the purchasing, selling, and distribution of supplies, machinery, materials, or equipment. They will conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations, purchase necessary supplies and materials, and maintain accurate records of all procurements. The supervisor will need to stay informed about trends, prices, buyers, and delivery conditions to anticipate future material availability and direct purchasing programs accordingly. Additionally, they will develop and maintain inventory databases, work closely with accounts payable to ensure compliance with purchasing protocols, negotiate contracts with vendors, and collaborate with various departments to maximize efficiency in purchasing and inventory control. Periodic physical inventory audits will also be part of their responsibilities, along with developing and implementing policies and procedures to optimize workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the department's daily workflow and schedules, coordinating purchasing, selling, and distributing supplies, machinery, materials, or equipment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Purchase supplies, materials, and parts for the company.
  • Maintain accurate records of all procurements.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, prices, buyers, and delivery conditions to anticipate future material availability, and direct purchasing programs accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain inventory databases for supplies and materials used.
  • Work with accounts payable to ensure a three-way match is followed on all purchases.
  • Negotiate and complete contracts with vendors for optimal cost and delivery times.
  • Collaborate with the Sales, Customer Service, and Logistics departments to maximize efficiency in the purchasing and inventory control department.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve problems regarding delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale.
  • Perform periodic (at least quarterly) physical inventory audits.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to purchasing, purchase orders, and inventory control to maximize efficiency and optimize workflow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing inventory control processes.
  • Experience and proficiency in database management, analyzing and reporting data regarding inventory issues, results, trends, and solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures used in purchasing and inventory control.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as inventory software.
  • Net Suite experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.
