About the position

RP Foods is seeking a Purchasing and Inventory Manager to oversee inventory management and purchasing operations within our company. This role is critical in ensuring that our inventory levels are optimized and that our procurement processes are efficient and cost-effective. The Purchasing and Inventory Manager will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, maximizing inventory turns, and minimizing inventory losses. This position will require a hands-on approach to manage various third-party logistics (3PL) partners while also overseeing the Dallas warehouse team. The successful candidate will be expected to track shipments and stock levels across our company-operated warehouse in Dallas, TX, and various 3PL facilities throughout the United States. In this role, you will develop and execute strategies to enhance the procurement and inventory management processes. You will own and manage the NetSuite Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure the accuracy of inventory records. Regular follow-ups with vendors and suppliers will be necessary to ensure timely delivery of materials and goods. You will also monitor inventory levels to ensure that materials and supplies are readily available, analyze data to identify opportunities for cost savings, and implement inventory control policies and procedures. Additionally, you will supervise warehouse personnel in Dallas, implementing appropriate inventory control procedures, and work closely with accounts payable to ensure a valid three-way match on all inventory purchases. You will issue purchase orders and coordinate the delivery of products at various warehouse locations while collaborating with sales, customer service, and logistics departments to maximize efficiency. Building and cultivating relationships with 3PL partners will be essential to align with the strategic vision of the organization, achieving optimal cost and service levels. You will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turns by SKU, fill rates, and inventory variances.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory and stock levels across all company warehouses.
  • Develop and execute strategies to maximize the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of the procurement and inventory management process.
  • Own and manage NetSuite WMS system to ensure accuracy of inventory records.
  • Follow up with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and goods.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure that materials and supplies are readily available.
  • Analyze data to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Develop and implement inventory control policies and procedures.
  • Monitor market trends and recommend changes to procurement processes.
  • Supervise warehouse personnel in Dallas, Texas and implement appropriate inventory control procedures (internal controls, daily cycle counts, etc.).
  • Work with accounts payable to ensure valid 3-way match is followed on all inventory purchases.
  • Issue purchase orders and coordinate delivery of products at various warehouse locations.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, and logistics departments to maximize efficiency in the purchasing and inventory control department.
  • Cultivate relationships with 3rd party logistics partners by aligning the strategic vision of the organization, to achieve optimal cost and service level.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, price, or quality.
  • Monitor and report on a variety of KPIs including inventory turns by SKU, fill rates, inventory variances, etc.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, accounts payable, or related fields
  • 5+ years of experience in inventory management, warehouse management, or related fields
  • ERP/WMS experience (NetSuite highly preferred)
  • Bi-lingual Required (English/Spanish)
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelors preferred.
