About the position

The Purchasing and Logistics Coordinator at Unlimited Technology plays a crucial role in ensuring that the company obtains materials, products, and services from suppliers at the most competitive prices while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability. This position is integral to the company's operations, as it supports various departments including sales, project management, and customer support by managing the procurement process effectively. The Coordinator will be responsible for understanding and adhering to existing procurement policies and processes, collaborating with internal departments to accurately represent their demand requirements, and monitoring compliance with corporate programs and vendor performance. Reporting issues and metrics related to procurement will also be a key responsibility of this role. In this position, the Purchasing and Logistics Coordinator will manage the daily purchasing activities, which include soliciting and evaluating bids, negotiating prices and terms with suppliers, and analyzing quotations to select the most suitable suppliers for orders. The Coordinator will create purchase orders from approved requisitions using the company's ERP system, ensuring timely communication with vendors and following up on orders to guarantee that materials reach their final destination efficiently. Additionally, the role involves managing inventory levels, assessing available stock, and understanding lead times to optimize the procurement process. The Coordinator will also have the opportunity to own special projects aimed at improving material processes, such as managing auctions, recycling initiatives, and the sale of excess or obsolete inventory. Assisting with proposals by contacting vendors for quotes is another aspect of this role, which requires strong negotiation and communication skills. Overall, the Purchasing and Logistics Coordinator is expected to work under pressure with minimal supervision, demonstrating a strong work ethic, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to providing excellent service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day purchasing of parts and supplies that support sales, project management, and customer support departments.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids, negotiate prices and terms.
  • Analyze quotations received, select or recommend suppliers with whom orders are to be placed, and schedule deliveries.
  • Create purchase orders from approved purchase requisitions through ERP and follow up on orders.
  • Determine the best means to get orders to the final destination.
  • Own special projects that improve the material process such as auctions, recycling, and sale of excess or obsolete inventory.
  • Assist with proposals by contacting vendors for quotes.
  • Manage inventory levels, available stock, and lead times.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by their supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in business, engineering, or related field, and/or five or more years professional experience in a Purchasing environment.
  • Proficient use of a computer, specifically with Excel and Word, preferably with advanced or certified Excel skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work well and interact with internal/external suppliers and customers.
  • Strong work ethic and teamwork; 'can do' attitude and desire to provide best service.
  • Strong interpersonal and communicative skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision; must be a self-starter and quick learner.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Self-organized, and able to work with minimum supervision.
