About the position

The Manager of Purchasing and Logistics at Domtar's Marlboro Mill in Bennettsville, SC, is responsible for overseeing the materials and shipping departments, as well as the supply chain operations of the mill. This role involves managing departmental functions, purchasing high-value commodities, and selling mill by-products, while ensuring effective communication and collaboration with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage departmental functions and employees in the Materials and Shipping Departments.
  • Oversee purchasing, stores, receiving, service crew/material handling, inbound logistics, and inventory management.
  • Purchase high-dollar value commodities for the Marlboro Mill.
  • Sell mill by-products and co-products such as tall oil, turpentine, electricity, and broke.
  • Purchase major high-dollar commodities including raw materials, chemicals, pulp, and energy.
  • Provide senior leadership and management functions for the mill.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Technical field with relevant business experience.
  • 10 years of related experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, or Materials Management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract administration, negotiation, and purchasing agreements.
  • Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of shipping, warehousing, and inventory control.
  • Ability to manage both salaried and hourly workforce.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and listening) and strong interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPM, CPIM, CPSM Certification
  • MBA if bachelor's degree is a non-business related degree.
  • Solid working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
