KAM Plastics is an employee-owned (ESOP) premier manufacturing company specializing in plastic injection molding and assembly, serving various markets including automotive, furniture, military, and consumer products. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials/Purchasing Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that plant operations have the necessary materials to meet customer expectations, focusing on on-time delivery and quality. You will also play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement in the financial success of our operations by managing finished goods, work-in-progress (WIP), and raw inventory levels. As the Materials/Purchasing Manager, you will provide daily leadership and support for shipping, receiving, purchasing, scheduling, and resource planning. Your responsibilities will include preparing orders, expediting deliveries, sourcing, and purchasing items needed to support operations. You will solicit and analyze quotations for the purchase of materials and services that support current and future programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials management and possess excellent organizational and leadership skills. Your essential duties will involve managing and monitoring inventory levels, ensuring on-time delivery of raw materials and finished goods, and overseeing the procurement, receipt, and storage of raw materials. You will champion projects aimed at improving cost, quality, and delivery of materials throughout the value stream. Additionally, you will build and maintain the master production schedule by utilizing input from sales forecasts, customer demand, material availability, and equipment capacity. Setting goals for inventory levels and monitoring performance will be key aspects of your role, along with reviewing and minimizing obsolete inventory. You will also monitor and evaluate customer schedules, supplier schedules, logistic routes, and shipping attainment, providing operational and managerial leadership for the functional department.
