About the position

The Purchasing and Operations Manager at Daimler Truck North America is responsible for developing a centralized purchasing function within the Spare Parts and Purchasing Department. This role involves leading sourcing initiatives, establishing purchasing processes, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations, and collaborating with the Financial Department to align purchasing activities with financial reporting. The manager will also oversee yearly contract negotiations and implement cost-effective purchasing strategies based on departmental budgets.

Responsibilities

• Establish a centralized purchasing structure across all departments.
• Implement standardized purchasing processes that align with Daimler Truck requirements.
• Negotiate large annual contracts based on department-specific budget forecasts.
• Lead sourcing efforts, identifying suppliers and negotiating contracts.
• Conduct supplier performance reviews and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with the Financial Department to align financial data with purchasing activities.
• Monitor and report on purchasing activities to ensure adherence to departmental budgets.
• Ensure compliance with Daimler Truck's procurement guidelines and external regulations.
• Train and guide departments on compliance with established purchasing processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Significant experience in purchasing, procurement management, and sourcing, ideally within the automotive or manufacturing industries.
• Strong understanding of financial and material management systems.
• Proven experience establishing purchasing processes and managing large supplier contracts.
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build effective supplier relationships.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
