About the position

The Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing the supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on improving supply chain efficiency, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring optimal inventory levels. The manager will lead a team, develop policies, and drive strategic initiatives to enhance operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of 3.
  • Develop policies to improve supply chain efficiency with a focus on quality and safety, implementing process adjustments as needed.
  • Create and enhance supplier management programs, emphasizing relationship-building, pricing negotiations, and establishing supply agreements.
  • Serve as a buyer/planner, coordinating with the team on daily operations and driving strategic supply chain initiatives.
  • Manage departmental staffing, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, daily scheduling, and adherence to company policies on discipline and termination.
  • Negotiate costs for raw materials and delivery services with suppliers, vendors, and logistics providers.
  • Monitor and regulate inventory levels to maintain optimal stock availability, reduce excess, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to secure necessary resources for a seamless supply chain.
  • Set performance metrics such as inventory accuracy and on-time delivery (OTIF).
  • Implement supplier scorecards to track performance and drive improvements.
  • Participate in the quotation process for new products.
  • Lead semi-annual physical inventory counts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Supply Chain Manager role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in purchasing raw materials and chemicals.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations.
  • Practical experience with ERP/MRP software.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPM or APICS Certification is preferred.
