About the position

The Purchasing and Warehouse Specialist at QED Systems is responsible for managing purchasing and warehouse functions within a marine engineering and ship modernization context. This role requires compliance with safety regulations, knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations, and the ability to track warehouse tasks effectively. The specialist will work in both office and warehouse environments and must be a licensed driver.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all applicable safety regulations in both office and warehouse settings.
• Verify adherence to established procurement procedures with minor coaching.
• Identify ordered parts and handle Government Furnished Items.
• Provide detailed tracking of assigned warehouse tasks.
• Negotiate with multiple vendors to determine the best value for the company and the government.
• Prioritize taskings and provide feedback to supervision.
• Lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes, with a minimum weight of 30 pounds.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required; military technical school(s) or business college credits desirable.
• Experience in business processes, preferably in a government contractor setting.
• Concentrated knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience purchasing labor and equipment/materials to repair Navy ships.
• Experience writing service purchase orders for Navy ship repairs.
• Experience in collecting and analyzing data with DOD, government, and civilian entities.
• Experience producing and reviewing price analysis documents.
• Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers, requiring above-average math skills.
• Ability to identify incoming parts, move them safely, and maintain traceability of shipments.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience under a DCMA-approved purchasing system.
• Credit for U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard experience.
