About the position

The Purchasing Assistant Manager at Hyundai Transys Georgia Powertrain, Inc. is responsible for overseeing supplier sourcing and management for electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) projects in North America. This role involves discovering suitable suppliers, evaluating new suppliers, fulfilling localization requirements, and ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards. The position requires strong negotiation skills and experience in the automotive industry, particularly with North American carmakers and transmission companies.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of supplier sourcing for EV and HEV North America projects.
• Discover suitable suppliers of sub-components/parts in North America.
• Evaluate new suppliers and expand the North American supplier pool.
• Ensure fulfillment of localization to meet USMCA conditions.
• Achieve required target prices and meet specifications and quality standards.
• Calculate North American supplier prices for each project and collect quotations.
• Analyze costs and negotiate prices with suppliers to meet HQ target prices.
• Conduct bidding and supplier nomination processes.
• Review and modify supplier contracts and manage project events related to purchasing, delivery, and quality.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of Purchasing/Procurement experience in the automotive industry.
• Experience with North American carmakers and transmission companies in a Purchasing or Procurement position.
• High knowledge of transmission/motor/inverter sub-component suppliers.
• Experience in EV & HEV (Transmission) project management.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with major Tier 1 suppliers.
• Familiarity with the Big 3 American carmakers.
• Knowledge of quality control and mass production response levels.
