About the position

The Purchasing Assistant at Lakeland Regional Health plays a crucial role in the supply procurement process, ensuring the efficient acquisition of stock and non-stock supplies, equipment, and services. This position involves maintaining inventory records, communicating with vendors, and resolving procurement-related inquiries, all while contributing to the overall quality and safety of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates purchase orders for stock and non-stock supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory records and Materials Management Information System integrity.
  • Verifies supplies received and stocks products in designated bin locations.
  • Performs routine clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and answering departmental phone calls.
  • Assists staff in locating products and provides follow-up status on back-ordered items.
  • Researches and resolves pricing and billing issues related to products.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to three years of previous hospital Purchasing Assistant/Materials experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred.
  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • Data Base Administration experience preferred.
