About the position

The Purchasing Assistant at Ottobock plays a crucial role in supporting the Purchasing Manager by overseeing the general operations related to company supplies, orthotic and prosthetic inventory. This position involves maintaining accurate records, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely processing of purchase orders and deliveries. The assistant will also provide administrative support, facilitating communication with vendors and suppliers to ensure a smooth flow of products within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain orthotic & prosthetic inventory levels.
  • Track orders, investigate issues, record purchases, and maintain a database if needed.
  • Maintain the upkeep of furniture, equipment, and office supplies.
  • Create purchase orders for all items purchased and ensure timely payments to accounts payable.
  • Monitor received items for accuracy in quantity and proper placement or delivery.
  • Ensure proper return of incorrect, incomplete, or damaged items to vendors for credit.
  • Confirm best value in purchasing by comparing vendors and negotiating pricing.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • May involve shipping and receiving.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Purchasing principles and processes.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Skilled in time management and handling multiple tasks.
  • Thorough knowledge of office records development, maintenance, and control.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite and databases.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Experienced in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems.
  • High school diploma or Associates degree preferable, with emphasis on business or health courses.
  • 1 year experience in general office maintenance.
  • Prefer previous experience in purchasing and materials management or equivalent.
