About the position

The Purchasing Clerk at AdventHealth is responsible for maintaining inventory control and managing the purchasing of food and supplies for the department. This role ensures that adequate stock levels are maintained, orders are placed accurately, and all deliveries are received and stored according to safety guidelines. The Purchasing Clerk plays a crucial role in supporting the operational needs of the hospital by coordinating with vendors and staff to prevent shortages and ensure quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate product inventory prior to placing orders.
• Place food and supplies orders with approved vendors in accordance with NS guidelines, using the CBORD computer program.
• Receive deliveries, monitor and track food temperatures of perishables, and store items promptly to maintain food safety according to HACCP guidelines.
• Communicate with staff to avoid shortages and ensure adequate stock is available for needs in all areas of the department; take immediate action when shortages occur; offer appropriate substitutions.
• Communicate with FPC as needed to resolve back orders and shortages; follow correct procedure for additional product orders; promptly communicate to area leadership and staff issues which may affect production and service.
• Maintain accurate records and process invoices according to NS guidelines; submit to FPC in a timely manner for payment.
• Communicate with vendors on product and delivery issues, including quality, price, and product errors.
