About the position
The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for ensuring that the Operations team has the necessary supplies to perform daily tasks efficiently. This role involves developing relationships with vendors to secure quality products at competitive prices, managing purchasing records, and communicating effectively with team members and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Purchase equipment, tools, parts, and other supplies or services necessary for operations.
- Review requisitions and interview vendors to obtain information about products, prices, and vendor capabilities.
- Maintain records related to purchased items, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories.
- Review bid proposals from vendors and enter contracts within budgetary limitations.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and handle supply shortages with urgency and efficiency.
- Communicate clearly with team members and suppliers via email, phone, and in-person.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous purchasing experience preferred.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software preferred.
- Accounting experience preferred.
- Two-year or four-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Microsoft Office systems, including Word and Excel.
- Customer relationship skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
