About the position

The Purchasing Clerk will be responsible for managing the procurement process within the company, ensuring that purchasing activities align with operational needs. This role requires strong negotiation and organizational skills, as well as proficiency in inventory management and supply chain processes. The Purchasing Clerk will collaborate with various departments to maintain optimal inventory levels and support overall business operations.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost-effective purchasing.
• Coordinate with Plant Managers to forecast material needs and ensure inventory availability.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, purchase orders, and supplier information.
• Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate the transportation of goods.
• Identify new vendors and manage long-term agreements to optimize cost savings.
• Generate work orders and ensure accuracy in material specifications, pricing, and delivery schedules.
• Analyze bids and proposals from suppliers and subcontractors and provide recommendations.
• Resolve supply chain and delivery issues, manage supplier warranties, and handle returns.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills.
• Negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of inventory management principles and supply chain dynamics.
• Research and analytical skills.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree is a plus but not necessary.
• Experience with supply chain purchasing and logistics is a plus but not necessary.
