About the position

The Purchasing & Inventory Control Coordinator at Amcor Rigid Packaging is responsible for overseeing storeroom activities to ensure timely availability of parts and supplies. This role involves monitoring inventory accuracy, managing purchasing processes, and supporting the Maintenance Planner as needed. The coordinator plays a key role in fostering a customer-focused environment and driving continuous improvement in inventory management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and directing storeroom activities to ensure parts and supplies availability.
  • Participate in plant safety training and activities to promote safety culture.
  • Foster a customer-focused environment for superior service to internal and external customers.
  • Monitor storeroom usage and SAP compliance by internal customers, resolving issues as needed.
  • Ensure timely conversion of requisitions to purchase orders.
  • Correct purchase order discrepancies related to price, description, and SAP numbers.
  • Monitor parked list daily and address issues promptly, including vendor communication.
  • Suggest and implement new work instructions or procedures to improve accuracy and workflow.
  • Facilitate training for Purchasing Assistant and Maintenance Planner as needed.
  • Manage parts in SAP, including requesting new SAP numbers and ensuring record accuracy.
  • Act as the primary contact for storeroom activities, assisting in problem-solving and communication.
  • Audit daily cycle counts and monthly reconciliation of inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with ProcurePlus projects for financial savings.
  • Track key metrics for purchasing and report to plant management.

Requirements

  • AA, AS, or AAS degree required; degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel; MRP and SAP experience desired.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to work flexible hours.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in inventory management or purchasing roles.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
