About the position

The Purchasing/Inventory Control Manager at Talent Finders, LLC is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing all aspects of purchasing and inventory control within a growing manufacturer of complex marine deck machinery. This newly created position will manage an annual spend of $10 million, focusing on highly engineered components and systems, while ensuring compliance with company policies and optimizing procurement processes. The role emphasizes collaboration with sales and engineering teams to maintain inventory integrity and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity of MRP planning parameters using Oracle and NetSuite software.
  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement strategies for procuring and storing goods.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock and minimize waste.
  • Place purchase orders with suppliers for production material as required by MRP and production schedules.
  • Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolve potential issues.
  • Expedite or defer orders based on schedule requirements.
  • Coordinate material flows throughout BOM changes and new product development.
  • Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies and quality problems with suppliers.
  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and lead time accuracy.
  • Generate and issue reports to key leaders regarding delivery date deviations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Timely and precise processing of purchase orders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a buyer or purchasing manager function.
  • Experience with NetSuite and/or Oracle preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Sound time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in production and inventory control.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience procuring engineered systems for machinery such as Drives, Motors, Gears, etc. preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Comfortable interacting with engineering groups; serving as a liaison between external vendors and engineers.
  • Knowledge of commonly used procurement concepts, practices, and procedures.
