About the position

The Purchasing & Inventory Manager at Schmidt Boat Lifts & Docks Inc. is responsible for overseeing the purchasing and inventory management processes to ensure efficient operations and excellent customer service. This role involves negotiating with vendors, maintaining inventory levels, and collaborating with sales and scheduling teams to ensure timely product delivery. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Purchasing merchandise, raw materials, supplies, etc.
• Receiving items in the computer system
• Processing sales orders and updating customer orders with status
• Negotiating with vendors and seeking new opportunities
• Planning shipments and will calls; developing and maintaining vendor relationships
• Monitoring, accounting for, and maintaining all aspects of purchasing and inventory
• Working closely with sales and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of products to customers
• Updating prices and costs
• Setting build numbers for manufacturing and creating/maintaining part numbers and assemblies
• Conducting physical inventory and spot checks
• Processing warranties and handling vendor issues
• Keeping sales staff updated on product changes
• Maintaining vehicle and equipment records and assisting with other procurement projects

Requirements

• Associate's degree in business or a similar field
• Minimum 2 years of purchasing or office experience in a similar position
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Organizational skills
• Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise is helpful
• Ability to recognize inefficiencies and implement solutions
• Professional demeanor on the phone, in person, and in writing
• Ability to learn about products to effectively negotiate and purchase them
• Comfortable working in an office environment and outdoors
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
