About the position

The Purchasing & Inventory Manager at Silencer Central is responsible for overseeing inventory control and procurement processes to ensure efficient management of stock levels and supplier relationships. This role involves developing inventory tracking systems, conducting analyses, and leading a team to optimize purchasing strategies while maintaining compliance with company policies. The position is integral to the company's growth and operational success, requiring strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee inventory control procedures to ensure accurate and timely recording of inventory levels.
  • Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts and ensure availability of necessary materials.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Manage inventory performance metrics and provide report results and recommendations to leadership.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective purchasing of goods and services.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers and vendors.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring the quality and reliability of supply sources.
  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and evaluate their performance.
  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and communicate supplier KPIs and use supplier scorecards for performance accountability.
  • Lead RFP and RFQ processes and ensure suppliers meet the terms of agreements.
  • Lead and develop the procurement and inventory teams, establishing adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Supervise MRP activities and provide mentorship and support to team members.
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
  • Monitor and control inventory costs to achieve cost savings and improve profitability.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis related to procurement and inventory activities.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and collaborate with other departments to meet customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • 5-7 years of Inventory and Purchasing experience required
  • Solid knowledge of data analysis, inventory management software, and forecasting techniques
  • ERP knowledge, NetSuite experience is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in procurement and inventory management software and tools
  • Experience using MRP for supply chain management
  • Experience in manufacturing and distribution
  • Experience with supplier scorecards and managing supplier accountability
  • Experience with RFP and RFQ processes
  • Experience managing distributor (B2B) agreements on the supply chain side
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and practices
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
