About the position

The Purchasing Manager at The Timken Company is responsible for overseeing all materials management functions across a multi-site operation. This role focuses on managing supplier relationships, ensuring quality and delivery, and implementing lean manufacturing principles to optimize costs and improve efficiency. The position is key to the business planning process and requires strong leadership and strategic development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the supply chain team, including associate development and performance management.
  • Manage all direct materials and MRO supplier relationships, developing strategies for quality and supply flow.
  • Collaborate with Operations to address predicted changes in capacity needs and recommend actions.
  • Develop and implement procedures to interpret incoming demand and integrate it into the operating plan.
  • Create and drive Lean strategies for supply chain and materials management to eliminate waste.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management, with experience leading or influencing teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and working with suppliers.

Nice-to-haves

  • 7 years of experience in Supply Chain with experience leading or influencing teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in SAP.
  • Demonstrated experience building/developing systems and processes utilizing lean tools.
