About the position

Our organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Purchasing Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with strong experience in the construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods and services. They will manage supplier relationships, coordinate starts, conduct variance reporting, and maintain an advanced knowledge of Excel. Experience with Brix or New Star software is preferred but open to those with JD Edwards or Oracle as well. The candidate should also have a solid understanding of home building and construction, and the ability to maintain and build trade base relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all purchasing activities, ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and prices.
  • Coordinate starts and handle option pricing, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Utilize Brix, New Star, JD Edwards, and Oracle for purchasing and supply chain management.
  • Prepare and analyze gross margin reports, conducting variance reporting to identify and address discrepancies.
  • Apply advanced Excel skills to manage data, generate reports, and support decision-making.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of home building and construction processes.
  • Build and maintain trade base relationships, fostering a network of reliable suppliers and partners.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in the purchasing process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing management, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Brix, New Star, JD Edwards, and/or Oracle.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to manage and analyze large data sets.
  • Solid understanding of home building and construction processes.
  • Proven experience in supplier management and the negotiation of contracts and prices.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze gross margin reports, conducting variance reporting.
  • Experience in starts coordination and option pricing.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain trade base relationships.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement.
