About the position

The Procurement/Purchasing Manager at Aramark Healthcare+ is responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities at the University of Chicago Medicine. This role involves planning, administering, and directing unit activities related to purchasing while ensuring compliance with established standards and regulations. The manager will lead the storeroom and receiving staff, maintain effective relationships with other departments, and ensure operational efficiency through effective inventory management and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the purchasing, receipt, accounts payable, and invoicing of all related items for the department.
  • Ensure accounts payable is current and accurate.
  • Collaborate with the Director and/or Food Production Manager/Executive Chef to determine inventory levels necessary for efficient operations.
  • Monitor and analyze financial and operating reports, formulating action plans to correct deviations from the business plan and budget.
  • Implement and execute company policies and procedures for food and supplies purchasing to achieve quality and budget objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Review menus and analyze recipes to determine food, labor, and overhead costs, assigning prices to menu items.
  • Plan or participate in planning menus and utilization of food surpluses and leftovers.
  • Maintain inventory at established levels to meet budget objectives.
  • Deliver strong operational performance by executing against Aramark Healthcare and regulatory agency standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
  • Participate in the selection process of storeroom employees and familiarize new employees with practices.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing, receiving, and procurement, preferably in the healthcare field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with clients, customers, and support staff.
  • Management and leadership skills, along with good planning and organization skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software, timekeeping software, and payroll applications.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee, client, and company information.
