About the position

The Purchasing Manager will play a crucial role in the procurement strategy of a well-established industrial manufacturing company. This position involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing vendor relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services. The role is designed to drive efficiencies across the supply chain and requires collaboration with various departments to align purchasing needs with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies tailored to the organization's needs.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on reliability, quality, pricing, and delivery capabilities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with selected vendors to ensure a stable supply chain and competitive pricing.
  • Engage in contract negotiations with suppliers to secure advantageous terms, pricing, and payment conditions.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze market trends, supplier performance, and changes in pricing and availability of goods and services.
  • Collaborate closely across departments to understand their unique purchasing needs, specifications, and timelines.
  • Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring efficient acquisition of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance based on predefined KPIs and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all purchasing activities.
  • Utilize advanced inventory management techniques to maintain optimal inventory levels.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a senior or managerial role with leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in the metals manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Epicor.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts and achieving cost savings.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Experience in inventory management and optimizing inventory levels.
  • Familiarity with inventory control strategies and best practices.
  • Experience managing procurement projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ability to lead and execute procurement projects from initiation to completion.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with company policies and ethical standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with legal requirements related to contracts and purchasing agreements.
  • Experience analyzing data and generating reports to support decision-making.

Benefits

  • Salary of $95,000 to $115,000 per year
