About the position

The Purchasing Manager position at D'Artagnan is a dynamic and engaging role focused on managing the purchasing of perishable proteins and associated packaging materials. This role requires collaboration with both internal and external experts to enhance the supply chain and ensure efficient inventory management across multiple sales channels and national distribution centers. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess strong analytical and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the relationship with vendors for assigned products.
• Partner with suppliers to develop strategic alignment between the supply base and multiple National distribution centers.
• Manage inventory through multiple sales channels and national distribution centers.
• Coordinate between internal departments to drive profitability and eliminate waste.

Requirements

• High school degree
• Minimum two (2) years' experience with perishable purchasing
• Sound working knowledge of strategic purchasing principles, materials management, and end-to-end supply chain management
• Analytical skills with comprehensive knowledge of ERP system
• Solid knowledge of consignment activities and vendor inventory management
• Capacity to analyze, quantify, and act upon purchasing related analytics
• Ability to customize/create new metrics to optimize performance
• Strong negotiation and presentation skills
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to build a sustainable business case for a proposed solution
• Ability to negotiate with external vendors to provide strong inventory positions in tight markets
• High attention to detail, while meeting timelines as required (multi-tasking ability)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel with pivot tables.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, or engineering
• 5 years' experience with perishable purchasing
• Experience in a mid-sized organization
• Tier one or two supplier purchasing professional experience
• Experience with Supply Chain management
