About the position

The Purchasing Manager II at Regal Rexnord is a pivotal role within the Aerospace Solutions division, located in Downers Grove, IL. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for leading a team of buyers in all purchasing functions. The Purchasing Manager will engage in strategic and tactical planning to ensure that the organization secures the necessary products and services at the best possible cost. The role requires a hands-on approach, acting as both a coach and a player within the team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on supplier performance and service levels. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will oversee the strategic sourcing and execution of purchasing activities, ensuring that all key performance metrics in the supply chain are met, including safety, delivery, quality, cost, and lead time reduction. The manager will establish and maintain supplier on-time delivery metrics and implement controls to meet inventory level targets. Additionally, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for executing purchasing projects aimed at maximizing cost savings while minimizing purchase price variance. Collaboration with the Aerospace and Corporate Supply Chain Teams is essential to achieve organizational goals and objectives. The Purchasing Manager will also conduct supplier reviews to assess risk, capacity, cost, and overall performance, ensuring that the purchasing team is equipped to make informed decisions. This role is critical in maintaining long-term agreements with suppliers and driving continuous improvement in supplier management and negotiation processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles, and the ability to analyze strategic options that impact the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct leadership over a team of buyers responsible for securing supply for all purchased products and services.
  • Perform strategic sourcing, execution, supplier development, and audit activities of buyers.
  • Continuously improve and build standard work around all purchasing processes and activities.
  • Ensure achievement of all key performance metrics in the supply chain: Safety (Environment), Delivery, Quality, Cost, Lead Times Reduction, and Optimized Supply Base.
  • Establish and maintain supplier OTD metrics.
  • Ensure controls are in place to meet inventory level targets/goals.
  • Establish and maintain status (and funnel) of purchasing projects to reduce cost and improve supplier performance.
  • Execute purchasing projects and actions to maximize cost out while reducing purchase price variance (PPV).
  • Proactively collaborate with Aerospace and Corporate Supply Chain Teams to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Work with Aerospace Solutions Supply Chain Team to establish, negotiate, and develop/maintain long-term agreements (LTA's).
  • Maintain supplier reviews of risk, capacity, cost, and overall performance in an appropriate cadence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business or a technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Purchasing, Materials Management, or Supply Chain.
  • 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Ability to support 10% - 15% travel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Supply Chain Certification - CPSM /CPM /CPIM /CSCP is a plus.
  • Demonstrated supplier management skills.

  • Demonstrated team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to implement visual controls and understanding of lean manufacturing.
  • ERP/MRP and business system expertise.
  • Ability to analyze strategic options and their impact on the organization.

  • Experience in supplier selection, management, and development of suppliers.
  • Ability to perform audits and determine corrective actions required by suppliers.
  • Experience in contract management, LTA's, and negotiations to drive cost and performance improvements.
