About the position

The Purchasing Manager III at Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of buyers and purchasing officers involved in acquiring materials, products, and services. This role includes negotiating contracts with suppliers, managing purchasing department budgets, and overseeing staff training and development. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to analyze market conditions to ensure the availability of materials.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of buyers and purchasing officers.
  • Negotiate contracts and formulate policies with suppliers.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials.
  • Interview and hire staff, and oversee staff training.
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
  • Control purchasing department budgets.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Administer online purchasing systems.
  • Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Five or more years of related experience, including five years in sales management with an alcoholic beverage wholesaler or supplier.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective speaking skills before groups of customers or employees.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software and order processing systems.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • 10 key typing by touch.
