About the position

The Maintenance Repair & Operations Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of non-steel related purchases, including packaging printing services, capital projects, and maintenance repair and operations (MRO) parts. This role focuses on improving execution and value creation in material and supply acquisition while reducing costs and enhancing quality. The manager must build strong relationships across all levels of the organization and with suppliers, ensuring effective communication and strategic thinking in process design and redesign.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise non-steel related purchasing resources and set strategy and priorities aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Manage and delegate work and projects for the indirect sourcing team.
  • Set SMART goals and objectives for the indirect sourcing team consistent with corporate targets.
  • Oversee all maintenance repair and operations purchases and operations-related buying.
  • Identify opportunities to aggregate needs across multiple facilities for leveraged sourcing events.
  • Manage timely fulfillment of purchasing needs for Maintenance and Tool Room departments.
  • Coordinate strategic sourcing activities, including supplier identification and criteria for awarding business.
  • Manage the purchase process for capital expenditures, including KPI development and negotiation strategies.
  • Oversee service contracts and special projects, including vendor selection and contract negotiation.
  • Assist with other purchasing duties on an ad-hoc basis as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in indirect spend management.
  • Strong negotiation skills in materials and services.
  • Experience in strategic sourcing and spend analysis.
  • Vendor selection and performance management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Project management experience.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Oracle.
