About the position

The Purchasing Manager - Indirect will oversee all aspects of the North America Indirects category, ensuring alignment with regional and global leadership. This role involves developing and executing indirect purchasing business strategies, driving best practices, and maintaining governance across all North America manufacturing sites. The position requires strong collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to achieve effective purchasing outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of North America indirect purchasing strategies and objectives.
  • Oversee strategic purchasing within key categories including MRO, packaging material, CapEx, and service contracts.
  • Support North America indirect purchasing category management and lead comprehensive saving programs across regional sites.
  • Implementation and governance of purchasing processes in compliance with global requirements and established KPIs.
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with suppliers and ensuring close cooperation with internal counterparts and SCM management team.
  • Assessment, auditing, and monitoring of supplier performance according to agreements and defined standards to initiate and implement corrective actions in case of deviations.
  • Establish a list of preferred suppliers.
  • Monitor and analyze relevant supplier market segments to identify opportunities within the marketplace.
  • Apply best-practice processes, tools, and techniques, in accordance with purchasing governance, processes, standards, and procedures.
  • Maintain preferred supplier lists, corporate contracts, and framework agreements.
  • Maintain (master)data, provide reports & manage information/data as required.
  • Manage Purchase Order approval flow in ERP systems.
  • Lead competitive bidding process to avoid single source and to ensure the process fully complies with purchasing standards.
  • Prepare and manage monthly reporting in alignment with regional and global needs.
  • Liaising effectively with Global Indirect stakeholders to gain or provide support where required.

Requirements

  • Min 3-5 years' experience in Indirect Purchasing.
  • CapEx project purchasing experience with solid engineering background in the chemical industry is preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field (SCM, Operations).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (COUPA and SAP).
  • Experience with RFP and contract process preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
